His name originated from friends and family that always believed he would be a star someday. Family members say since the age of 6 he was always entertaining the house by singing or dancing and has always been the 'star' of the family which also contributed towards his stage name.
Shad was born on March 26, 1985 in London and is the youngest in a family of 3 children. From a young age it was clear Shad Star was musically gifted and at the early age of 13 he began performing on stages around London with his older sister and it quickly became apparent to his family a star was born.
Born and raised in west London to a Nigerian father and Indian mother Shad would be the first to admit that he has a unique blend of ethnicity and has embraced both cultures. He attended Isleworth and Syon School which has other notable alumni like Mo Farah.
Shad has been singing and performing since early childhood and what started as a hobby became more career oriented in his teens. In his area of West London he was regarded as a real talent and after a number of EP's, performing around London and songs released locally it was not until he posted the song 'Breathe' on Myspace that he began to get recognition from record executives and more notably the US. On a search for the next up and coming talent, Grammy Award winning super producers DJ Khalid and DJ Nasty discovered the young Londoner and immediately booked him on the next flight to Miami after hearing his material and voice. Upon arrival in Miami alongside his friend and producer Harmony Samuels, they had a series of meetings and performances that would eventually change their lives. After performing in front of the duo Shad was signed instantly to their management company and record label.[2] Under the sponsorship of Dj Nasty and the support of Dj Khaled (We The Best Music), super producer Lee Major (The Inkredibles), Oddz & Endz and many other US producers, Shad moved to Florida in 2010 to build a body of work and material.
After penning his first deal Shad Star began work almost instantly and featured on London artist Pepstar's song "Out The Dark" in early 2011. Then came his first single that would prove to be his introduction to the world by his new label Nasty Beatmakerz entitled "From Above" which he co-wrote and was produced by Harmony who also produced two tracks on Chris Brown's F.A.M.E. album as well as Chipmunk's Transition. The video was released on March 23, 2011.[3] Although not officially released, "Count on Me" is another track he collaborated with Harmony on and is turning heads in the US. Currently in the studio recording his debut album, big things are expected of the West London native who has impressed a host of established artists and producers such as Rishi Rich, inkredibles and Ace Hood to name a few.
